Seattle - Marvin L. Thomas, 57, a laborer, died of cancer June 26 at Northwest Hospital in Seattle. Services and burial are 11 a.m. today at Egypt Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Crystal Springs, Miss. Westhaven Memorial is handling arrangements.
Mr. Thomas was a Gatesville, Miss., native. He was raised in Crystal Springs and was a member of Egypt Hill M.B. Church. After high school graduation, he moved to Seattle and became a member of the Peoples Institutional Baptist Church. He was a basketball coach at the Rotary Boys Club and played softball for many teams in Seattle such as Happy Valley, Marvin Bandits, New Breed Red Ball Express and the Player Makers. He was employed at Boeing for 34 years.
Survivors include: wife, Christine; daughter, Marvena Thomas of Cleveland, Ohio; son, Jason Thomas of Seattle; sisters, Armitta Wheatley of Jackson, Miss., and Olla Bell Bishop of Indianapolis, Ind.; brother, Lawrence E. Thomas of Seattle; and two grandchildren.
