  • Introduction

A son of Alex and Alice Chesney Macioroski, “Pete” was born at Terry, March 26, 1920. He grew up on a ranch north of town, in the Bad Route community, and attended Valley View country school through the eighth grade. As a young man, he was interested in ranching and farming, and the raising of registered Hereford cattle. Mr Macioroski married Lois Charvat in 1947, and they had four children; daughters, Sherry Mitchell of Sidney, and Connie Kyro of Glendive; and sons, Steve and Doug both of Glendive. Later, after moving to Glendive to give his children access to the Glendive schools, he was employed in carpentry and construction work. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Glendive. He finally became a contract-builder, himself, building several business structures in Glendive and among others, the present M-DU building in Terry. Failing health forced his retirement from the business in 1980. Mr Macioroski, 60, passed away at Billings’ St Vincent’s hospital on February 29, 1981. He had been ill for about 1 1/2 years, with leukemia, but his death was attributed to pneumonia. Also surviving, besides the immediate family, are four sisters-Alice, Josephine and Barbara of this area and Alma of Big Timber; and six brothers- Chester, Tony, Tom and Stanley, nearby, Albert at Melrose and Elmer at Virginia City. Also there are six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Joe and Alvin Roy. ——condensed from The Terry Tribune 3-12-1981 p. 5
