Joseph Balachowski:
Trying to solve a mystery. - Karol Bienko and my father, Joseph Balachowski were fellow partisans in the Polish Home Army during WWII, in the eastern part of Poland that now belongs to Ukraine.
During the war they operated out of a farm where my father met my future mother. At the end of WWII my parents ended up in a displaced persons camp in Salzburg, Austria. According to them, Karol disappeared.
In 1948 my parents emigrated to the United States. After my father retired from teaching at a California college, my parents retired to Hemet, CA. This is less than 100 miles from Desert Hot Springs, CA, where Karol Bienko spent his last days. My father passed away in 1989.
I am not sure this was a coincidence. It's possible Mr. Bienko somehow found my father. But did they ever communicate?
Does anyone out there know this story? I would love to hear from you.
Sincerely,
Joseph D. Balachowski
Seattle, WA
Cheri Lamouroux:
Elsie was my Paternal Grandmother - Elsie was my sounding board anytime I was trying to deal with a personal problem. When I was little, she loved brushing my long, curly hair. She would always say it was just like hers, growing in all directions.
One of my favorite funny things I remember about her was that she was a great cook and created these huge delicious meals for holidays, but was notorious for also creating a giant mess in the kitchen. She didn't clean anything as she cooked, it was all left for us to clean up after the meal was over!
Allan Anderson:
Nephew - I Never Did Thank You Uncle Herb For Giving Me The Help You Gave Me At A Very Trying Time In My Life. You And Your Mother, My Granny Helped Me When I Needed It Most. I Am Sorry If I Let You Down. You Were A Good And Caring Man. So I Thank You Uncle Herb. Love, Your Nephew Allan
Ray L:
A Spirited Young Man Who Died Too Young - A very witty man with a strong personality. He loved his father and mother very much. He lived a fast life which is why he was taken from us at 21. Those who knew him were drawn to him by his humor, his personality that makes you feel a connection, and a loyalty to his friends and family.
Randy Day:
Working on my deceased birt father's family tree - My birth Father's legal name was Rufus J. Turner. He and his wife, Viva Dale Turner, were the parents of ten children. My twin sister and I were siblings #9 and 10. At the time of our birth in November 8, 1955, Rufus had left the family and moved to Avon Park, Florida. While there he sent word for us all to come and join him.
However, when we got off the Greyhound bus, he was not there. Later on he did respond to a court order for child support by sending support monies to our oldest sister, and the return address was from somewhere in Texas.
We've traced our ancestry back to England and France on our Mother's side. We also know our Father was full-blooded German. But we have no links or names to any of his parents or ancestors.
If anyone could help me in this quest, I would be very grateful.
Sincerely,
Randy Day

Mary Cooley:
He was my brother - Bill was surprisingly tall (our parents were short but uncles on both sides were tall). Bill was funny, even during the just-shy-of-5yrs period during which he dealt with the effects of leukemia and it's difficult treatments. During one of Bill's numerous hospitalizations, he'd has us rig a clear bag with water/fish to hang with his intravenous bags causing his medical team to do a doubletake.
