Thomas Aherron 1871 - 1941

Thomas Aherron was born on July 11, 1871 in Henry County, Virginia United States. He married Lucy Rachael (Richardson) Aherron on March 22, 1894 in Pittsylvania County, and they were married until Lucy's death on July 20, 1905. They had children Cordelia Sybil (Aherron) Gosney and Ila Gertrude (Aherron) Miller. He also married Willie Mae (Garbee) on December 24, 1906 in Lynchburg, and they were married until Willie's death on May 24, 1940. They had children Carlton Thomas Aherron, Louise Arlene (Aherron) Hasty, Violet Elizabeth (Aherron) Drew, Kenneth Eugene Aherron, Edith Marie (Aherron) Mathews, Reuben Beverley Aherron, Lucy Rachel (Aherron) Gregory Johnson, and Richard Theodore Aherron. Thomas Aherron died at age 70 years old on November 22, 1941 in Newport News, and was buried on November 23, 1941 at Leemont Cemetery 1301 Claiborne St, in Danville.

    THOMAS AHERRON, CONTRACTOR, DIES Was on Visit with Daughter At Newport News; Funeral Held Here Today Thomas Aherron, retired building contractor, died at 1 p. m. yesterday in Newport News, where he had gone last Sunday to visit a daughter, Mrs. R. S. Miller. He was 70 years of age. Death came unexpectedly to the family here, although Mr. Aherron had been forced to give up work six years ago because of declining health. The body was transported to Danville last night and funeral services will be conducted at 4 p. m. today from the home of Mrs. B. A. Gosney. 1716 North Main Street, where Mr. Aherron resided with his daughter. Burial will be in Leemont Cemetery. Mr. Aherron was a native of Henry County but lived in or near Danville all his adult life. He was twice married; first to Miss Lucy Richardson, who died in 1905, and next to Miss Willie Garbee of Lynchburg, who died in May of last year. Surviving Mr. Aherron are six daughters and four sons: Mrs. Miller, of Newport News; Mrs. Gosney, Misses Louise, Violet and Rachel Aherron, Mrs. Roy Mathews, Charlton, Kenneth E., Reuben B. and Richard Aherron, all of Danville. A brother. Joseph Aherron. of Spray, N. C., and four grandchildren also survive him.
