William David Mower Scott 1887 - 1953

William David Mower Scott was born in 1887 to William Haig Scott and Susannah Jessie (Mower) Scott, and had siblings Hazel Gladys (Scott) Morris and Linda Isobell (Scott) Devenport. He married Ellen Wilhelmina Scott in 1910, and they were married until death separated them. William Scott died at age 66 years old in 1953.

In 1887, in the year that William David Mower Scott was born, on May 9th, Buffalo Bill's Wild West show opened in London. Founded in 1883, the show was attended - twice - by Queen Victoria and adored by audiences who thrilled to his fanciful acts portraying life in the "Wild West."

In 1890, at the age of just 3 years old, William was alive when on June 1st, the U.S. Census Bureau started tabulating census returns with punch cards. Herman Hollerith's "tabulating machine" used punch cards to more quickly compute census information, taking the time to get census results from 8 years in 1880 to 6 years for the 1890 census. Hollerith's company eventually became IBM.
