Gordon Anthony Merat was born to Arthur Eugene Merat (1875-1945) and Hazel Gertrude Coudriet (1891-1932), and had siblings Cora H. (1909-1983), Emmett (born 1911), Kathleen (1912-1986), Lillian Agatha (1914-1997), Joseph (born 1916), Eleanor (born 1918), Verden Paul (1919-1964), and Gloria Merat (born 1923). Gordon graduated from Clearfield High School in 1939, and moved from Girard Clearfield Pennsylvania to Niagara Falls New York between 1940 and 1952. A World War 2 Veteran, he was married to Joan Genevieve White (1925-2009) and they had three sons and a daughter together. Gordon Merat passed away on September 29th 1962 in a motor truck outside 16 McLennan Street in Doveton Victoria Australia of coronary sclerosis myocardial infarction.

I want to build a place where my son can meet his great-grandparents. My grandmother Marian Joyce (Benning) Kroetch always wanted to meet her great-grandchildren, but she died just a handful of years before my son's birth. So while she didn't have the opportunity to meet him, at least he will be able to know her. For more information about what we're building see About AncientFaces. My father's side is full blood Sicilian and my mother's side is a combination of Welsh, Scottish, German and a few other European cultures. One of my more colorful (ahem black sheep) family members came over on the Mayflower. He was among the first to be hanged in the New World for a criminal offense he made while onboard the ship.
