Army of the Potomac - US Civil War
This is a photo of a group from the Army of the Potomac which was active in the US Civil War from 1861 - 1865. I'm not sure of the soldiers' ranks or names.
The Army of the Potomac was created in 1861 basically comprising of a group of soldiers called the Army of Northeastern Virginia. This group was led by Brig. Gen. Irvin McDowell, and the entire Army of the Potomac was led by Major General George B. McClellan.
The Army of the Potomac underwent many structural changes during its existence, but played a critical role during the United States Civil War.
