Holbrook, Douglas 08/27/1945 ~ 09/28/2014 SAN DIEGO -- Douglas Holbrook died unexpectedly at UCSD Medical Center surrounded by his two daughters on Sunday, September 28, 2014, in San Diego, California. He was born August 27, 1945 in St. Louis, MO. Douglas was a well respected old school, classical all American Criminal Defense lawyer practicing for over 30 years in San Diego who valued honesty and integrity. He also served as faculty at San Diego State University his alma mater in the political science, business law and criminal justice departments for over 19 years. In addition, he had served on the San Diego Crime Commission and the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Task Force; in his spare time he also co-hosted the "Talk of the Town"* show on KNSJ with his distinctive voice. Douglas had an undeniable passion for people, an ear for music and San Diego, which he called home. His mother, brother, two daughters and granddaughter survive him. No services are planned.

I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens. My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us.
Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years.
Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
