CORY JOHNSON OBITUARY
Johnson, Cory 12/12/1970 - 1/13/2023 Farmington Hills Cory Richard Johnson, age 52, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on Friday, January 13, 2023. Cory was born on December 12, 1970, in Manistee, Michigan, the son of Dalene and Gene Johnson. He graduated from Saline High School, class of 1989, and went on to obtain his bachelor's in accounting from Michigan State University. He passed the CPA exam on the first try. Cory worked as an IT project manager at BASF, where he was employed for over 22 years. On October 6, 2007, Cory married the love of his life, Shaina Tanner, in a beautiful outdoor ceremony. Together they enjoyed cross country running events, paddle-boarding, hiking, kayaking, and spending time together with their 4 precious, and very spoiled, fur-babies Callie, Riley, Gabby, and Tempe. Cory excelled in everything he did in life and always gave more than expected. He participated in several sports throughout the years, including soft-ball, bowling & darts. Cory was a 'Spartans' fan but also cheered for his father's alma-mater, the 'Wolverines,' as long as they weren't playing each other. One of Cory's hobbies was collecting sports cards. He enjoyed watching both college and professional sports on television. Cory was a loving husband, son, brother, & uncle. He leaves behind, with broken hearts, his wife Shaina, mother & father, sister Dena (Nick) McGuire, brother Kevin (Anna) Johnson, nephews Mark (Roger Shi) McGuire & Brian McGuire, mother in-law Ferol Tanner, father-in-law Barry Tanner, brothers-in-law Evan (Mary) Tanner, John Tanner, Micah Tanner and sister-in-law Laeli (Mike) Broniman, and more family members (too many to mention) and friends. All will miss his infectious smile and caring heart. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Richard & Marilyn Fairbrother, Marjorie (Fred Johnson) and Alex Tuisku, nephew Taye Johnson and other extended family members. No service is planned at this time. Family will celebrate his life well lived in a private gathering at a later date. In lieu of flowers or other gestures of support and caring, please consider a donation to the Huron Valley Humane Society or Camp Kitty (campkitty.weebly.com).

Debby Stevens
I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
