Mary Elizabeth Gibson Hammond
I have in my possession an old studio photograph of a young woman who is identified as Uncle Rube GIBSON'S Sister and also Mrs. HAMMOND. The photograph was taken at the Brown Studio in Wheeling, WV sometime in the 1880's. The woman in the photograph appears to be in her teens or 20's at the time it was taken. I believe that this is a photograph of Mary Elizabeth GIBSON HAMMOND who was a sister to Reuben Hammers GIBSON.

Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding the siblings:

Mary Elizabeth GIBSON was b. 18 Nov 1865 in West Virginia to parents John Lee or Leander GIBSON (1842-1886) and Julia ZINK (1843-1933). Mary had one sibling, a brother Reuben Hammers GIBSON (1868-1955). The GIBSON Family was living in Washington, WV in the 1880’s. Mary married Will HAMMOND and they had a daughter. Mary died 14 Nov 1891.

Reuben GIBSON was b. 9 Feb 1868 in West Virginia to the same parents and he married Anna Tabitha DENTON (1867-1942) in 1890 in Randolph Co., WV. Reuben and Anna had 6 children including Earl Lee; Howard Denton; Wilbert Bonar; Russell Clarence; Robert Irving; and Stanley Reuben GIBSON, all born between 1891 and 1907. Reuben died 9 Jun 1955 in Edinburg, OH and is buried in the Edinburg Cemetery in Edinburg, OH.

I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photograph can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me.

Thanks,
Shelley
