Good Day, do you have any family in Ottowa, Kansas? My paternal great-grandparents, lived around those parts, and names were Maria Ketterer and after marriage, changed to Kunkel. My great-grandfather's name was Fredrick Wilhelm Kunkle. He had a large ranch and did some farming also.
Their daughter, Ida Katrina was married to a Harold C. McMillin. He tried his hand at farming, but was not for him. So, they moved around Kansas and Texas. Finally, he was a foreman at a local construction company, had a severe stroke on the job.
He was given a second chance at life, really changed him, never drank another sip of ETOH or smoked another cigarette or cigar, ever.
He recovered, able to not have to use oxygen, although he had COPD It certainly changed his life for the better!
