Titanic's Maiden Voyage
This photo of the RMS Titanic was taken on April 10th, 1912 on the Titanic's maiden (and only) voyage leaving Southampton England. Tug boats are accompanying the ship out of the harbor.
The RMS Titanic left port with 2,224 people. 1,514 people died when she struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic on April 14, 1912 at 11:40p. While the sinking of the Titanic has always been attributed to hitting the iceberg, there is some current evidence that suggests that there may have been a problem in the boiler room that caused the collision.
She was advertised as being "unsinkable" but this obviously turned out to be untrue.
