My Great Grandfather was Atashni Macamic and My Grandfather was Louis Macamaux, Atashnis Son. My grandfather took me to every Pow Wow in the New England area. He was a proud man and very often spoke his Native Abenakis tongue and would join in the dances at the beating of the drums. He was born in Canada a member of the Abenakis tribe of the Odanak Nation. He taught me all I know about how to hunt, fish, trap, and survive in the wild.

I think of him often and know that one day I will see him again.
