JAMES SNIDER
JAMES SNIDER (JOHN WALKER3, GEORGE2, JOHANN GEORGe SCHNEIDER) was born May 08, 1830 in Tennessee, and died September 07, 1895 Low Wassie, Shannon County, Missouri. He was the son of John Walker Snider (b. 1798 in Blount County TN, d. 1827 in Carter County, MO) and Nancy Henderson (b. 1798 in NC, d. abt 1872 in Carter County, MO). James Snider married REBECCA MONTGOMERY August 02, 1855 in Oregon City, MO. She was died Bet. 1860 - 1865 in MO. James W. Snider's first wife was said to have died while James away in the Civil War. He returned from the war to find that she was gone. Family members were said to have nursed him back to health and this included his first cousin Teresa Neal, his first cousin. They became fond and each other and he married TERRESSA (Treasy, Creasy) NEAL (NEEL) February 23, 1865 in Carter Co., MO. Teresa was the daughter of ROBERT NEAL and NANCY HENDERSON. Teresa was born November 27, 1844 in Missouri, and died November 04, 1888 in Shannon County, Missouri.
Family legend has it that James sided with the Confederacy didn’t like his daughter Sally's father-in-law, John C. Windes. They had fought on different sides of the Civil War. The Union man got a pension (in his old age), but the Confederate didn't. They got into a fight over it once at the post office when a check came through.

GEORGE DANIEL SNIDER (GEORGE W.3, GEORGE W2, JOHANN GEORG1 SCHNEIDER)was born 12 Jun 1845 in Monroe County, Tennessee, and died in Chattanooga, Hamilton, Tennessee. He married THERESSA JANE GASTON5 30 Jan 1866, daughter of DAVID GASTON and MARY TOOMEY. She was born 08 Nov 1843 in Monroe County, Tennessee, and died 25 Mar 1913 in Chattanooga, Hamilton, Tennessee.

George Daniel fought for the Union. He didn't tell Theressa until he was on his
Deathbed. Military service: Bet. 18 Sep 1863 - 11 Sep 1866, Company G, 9th Regiment of Tennessee Cavalry Volunteers1 2 He asked to be interred in the National Cemetery in Hamilton County,Chattanooga. Thus the reason they are buried in separate cemeteries. George is buried in the National Cemetery, Chattanooga, TN.

In 1880 they lived in Reavine, Walker, Georgia.
According to the will of George Snider (born January 01, 1769) , George Dannel inherited his gf (George Snider's) plantation.

Griff Nichols was born December 06, 1843 in Shady Grove, Hickman, Tennessee, and died July 20, 1899 in Near Winona, Shannon County Missouri. He was the son of Christopher C. Nichols (1812-1907) and Prudence Manerva Nicks (1816-?) He married MALINDA ALICE SAVAGE Abt. 1866 in Hickman, Tennessee, daughter of ASA SAVAGE and AMANDA JONES. She was born December 24, 1848 in Nashville, Davidson, Tennessee, and died June 07, 1931 in Rocky ford, Otero, Colorado.

Griff enlisted into the 11th Regt. of the Tenn Volunteers 14 May, 1861 at Nashville under Lt. Col. Thomas B. Bateman. Upon enlistment his place of residence was listed as Hickman County, TN. He was wounded at Murfreesboro Dec. 31, 1862. He was captured Dec. 16, 1864. He was sent to Camp Chase as a prisoner of war.
He gave his Oath of Allegiance May 6, 1865 and signed with his X. At this time he is listed as Sgt. in the 11th Regt. of the Tenn Inf. His description is as follows:
complexion fair; hair brown; eyes grey; height 5 ft 8 in.; entered service May 10, 1861, deserted May 2 1865, suscribed to oath May 6th 1865. Remarks lists "no family"

After the war, Griff and his wife traveled west from Hickman county TN by covered wagon and settled in Shannon County Missouri.
