This is a tin type photo with no identification. Could be the parents of William Stokes Mitchell or the parents of Sarah Elizabeth Jones. It was with some Mitchell photographs found on the side of the road near Asher, Pottawatomie Co., OK. We'd like to return to this family. No identification is given on the back side of tin type. The photo has also been professionally painted over the tin type. It may have some Georgia (GA) ties.

On the back of the photo is written: Bessie's Fred Adkins Picture. On the left side is written Bessie and beside the Adkins is written Zizzez or Zizzey and this word or name is underlined. This photo is related to my Adkins in my family but I can't figure out who this Fred or Bessie might be. It is an original photo and if a direct descendant identifies it, then its yours. Please note that Fred could be a nickname or a middle name.

While walking along highway 39 near Asher, Pottawatomie Co., Oklahoma, my mother, found an envelope full of very old photographs. They obviously had not been there long, she thought perhaps someone put them on top of their car and had forgotten about them before driving off.
Our hopes were to locate descendants of these persons photographed and return them to their family members. Someone lost these photos and we wanted to return them.
The photo is of Arthur Mitchell perhaps before he was married.

Murray, Mrs. Nannie or Namie McFarlin, Mrs. Edna Jones and Truman Jones, Sept 1917" also there is a photo processing stamp written "Finished by The Thomason Studio, Murphreesboro, Tennessee"

Card given by the Congregational Sunday School in Douglass, MO.

This photo was in an envelope full of some distant ADKINS' family photo's but I am clueless as to how these people are related to my Adkins family. Written on the back of photo is "Thelma Thomas, Grace & Jesse Whitfield made at Look Out Mt. near Chattanooga, Aug 17, 1947" I'm assuming this was in Tennessee.

Sarah Marie (Norris) Jones was born in August 1850. Family, friend, or fan, this family history biography is for you to remember Sarah Marie (Norris) Jones.
William Lendrum Mitchell (December 29, 1879 – February 19, 1936) was a United States Army general who is regarded as the father of the United States Air Force.
Mitchell served in France during World War I and, by the conflict's end, commanded all American air combat units in that country. After the war, he was appointed deputy director of the Air Service and began advocating increased investment in air power, believing that this would prove vital in future wars. He argued particularly for the ability of bombers to sink battleships and organized a series of bombing runs against stationary ships designed to test the idea.
He antagonized many administrative leaders of the Army with his arguments and criticism and, in 1925, was returned from appointment as a brigadier general to his permanent rank of colonel due to his insubordination. Later that year, he was court-martialed for insubordination after accusing Army and Navy leaders of an "almost treasonable administration of the national defense"[3] for investing in battleships instead of aircraft carriers. He resigned from the service shortly afterward.
Mitchell received many honors following his death, including a commission by President Franklin D. Roosevelt as a major general. He is also the first person for whom an American military aircraft design, the North American B-25 Mitchell, is named.
