James Carter of Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada United States was born on April 12, 1950 in Honolulu, Honolulu County, HI. Family, friend, or fan, this family history biography is for you to remember James Carter.
Grandpa, every moment I got to spend with you was a blessing! I kick myself everyday for not taking your teachings seriously! And, thank you for always protecting me from my 2 older sisters whom were always picking on me…❤️
Bessie (Sackett) Hovietz of Moapa, Nevada United States was born in 1909 at Las Vegas Paiute Tribe 1 Paiute Dr, in Las Vegas, and died in Moapa.
Lila Hovietz Carter, my mother, was loving, beautiful, classy, giving, straight forward, she spoke her Southern Paiute language fluently, she never hesitated to share her traditional heritage and storytelling. She absolutely loved her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She served on tribal council, she loved playing hand games, koon-can (Indigenous card game) video poker and bingo, which she played with her lucky beaded dobber, a gift given to her by my sister Laurieta Carter. My mother was 1 of 2 LV Paiute elders left that spoke Southern Paiute fluently. Sadly they’ve both passed away. We love and miss you everyday mom!
