Dorothea Gindele, Doust, Marshall, Whitehurst as a young nurse.
Dorothea Gindele as a young nurse after graduating from Columbia School of nursing in NYC. She married Sydney Doust and shortly after divorced. This photo was probably taken about 1934 and is inscribed to Don in the lower right hand corner. In 1943 she and Donald Marshall were married in Yuma Az. They had gone to high school together in New Rochelle NY. They had a son, Donald Jr. born in 1946. They divorced in the early 50s. Dorothea them married Matthew Whitehurst. Matt dies in 1979.

Hans is standing and has his hat on. I took the photo when Hans was visiting his friends Erik and Ida Lund in Vancouver, Washington at the early turn of the 21st century. Hans and Erik were both from Sweden. They enjoyed speaking Swedish together and also had a close connection with a lifelong seagoing career. Wonderful shipmate with a fabulous sense of very dry humor and a dedication to job and ship rarely seen. They that go down to the sea in ships see many wonderous things. Steady as she goes, Hans.

Dorothea G Whitehurst of Cape Canaveral, Brevard County, FL was born on March 26, 1914 in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York United States, and died at age 81 years old on September 18, 1995.
