Son of William Anderson and Lucy Crowell Anderson, graduated Wilberforce College in Xenia, Ohio and Yale University in New Haven, Conn. Charter member Aplha Phi Alpha fraternity at Yale, A.M.E. church membership. Married to Mary Estelle Highgate (pictured elswhere on this site) who was born in Dresden, Ontario, Canada. Papa Anderson loved driving more than anything, and would drive the family to Alabama and Ontario every summer to visit grandparents.

Thompsons were African/European/Native American ancestry, and emigrated to Ontario in the 1860s. Her first husband was Edward Donnelly, and they had a daughter, Louisa Donnelly, b. 1869, in Kent County, Ontario, Canada. Louisa married Alfred Highgate, and is pictured with her daughters on this site under the Highgate surname. Highgates also emigrated to Ontario, from Allegheney County, PA, in the 1850s.
