Rocco Gabriele
He was born Rocco Gabriele, the son of Leonardo Gaetano Gabriele and Maria Grazia Teresina Parrotta on November 9, 1875 in Scala Coeli, Cosenza, Calabria, Italy and died June 27, 1960 in California. His wife was Rosina Poletta Gabriele [official records!] and he had six sons who changed their original Italian names to: Ralph, Armand, James, George, Arthur, and Thomas and one daughter who changed her name to Grace. Most changed their last name to Gabriel. He sold insurance, sculpted statues for the cemetery, had a grocery store and played the trumpet. He owned a brownstone in Brooklyn and lived on Kent Avenue, Greene Avenue and Albany Avenue. He went to school up to the 8th grade in Italy.
