Charles Genasci Family
Charles Genasci Family
I've "rescued" an old family photograph of the Charles GENASCI Family of Nevada City, CA which was taken at the C. Uberto Studio in San Francisco, CA. Family members are named as follows:

Front row left to right - Fritz, Charles Jr., William, and Henry GENASCI
Back row left to right - Florence, Josephine, Mr. Charles GENASCI, Mary, Annie, Mrs. GENASCI, Fred, and Carrie GENASCI

The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's and is framed in a traditional frame which appears to date back to that time. Those pictured in the photograph range in age from about 4 years to parents in their 40’s. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this family:

Charles Carlo Ambrogio GENASCI was b. 4 Mar 1831 in Ariolo, Switzerland to parents Carlo Ambrogio GENASCI (1796-1963) and Guisesspa LOMBARDI (1797-1836). Charles was married to Florinda (1843-1919) on 30 Jan 1865 in Nevada City, CA and he died 9 Sept 1909 in Nevada County, CA and is buried at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Nevada City, CA.

Florinda or Florida GUSCETTI b. 16 Sept 1843 in Degio, Switzerland to Maria BOHLING (b. 1821). Florinda (Mrs. Charles GENASCI) died 19 Jan 1919 in Nevada City, CA and is buried in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Nevada City, CA.

The couple had 10 children including, Carolina; Mary Ann; Fred Jeremiah; Josephine; Annie; Florence Mamie; Fritz; Charles George; Henry; and William B. GENASCI, all born between 1866 and 1881 in Nevada City, CA.

Carolina or Caroline M. GENASCI was b. 6 Feb 1866 in Nevada City, CA. She was married more than once, first to John Henry FINNEN (1855-1885) and after his death she married Giovanni Domenico John CORGIAT (1858-1936) and together they had 4 children including, Flora Agnes; Stephen Albert; John Charles; and Eugene “Gene” Wager CORGIAT, all born between 1889 and 1894. The couple was living in Berkeley, CA during the 1910 census and in Oakland, CA in the 1920 census and then after that in Seattle, WA. Carolina died 23 Mar 1954 in Seattle, WA.

Mary Ann GENASCI was b. 7 Feb 1867 in Willow Valley, CA and married John Andrew RAMSEY (b. 4 Dec 1859 in Carson City, NV – d. 12 Oct 1929 in Sacramento, CA) on 6 Jan 1890 in Nevada City, CA. The couple had 10 children including, Sadie Florence; Charlie James; Frederick J.; Jessie; Norval Douglass; Rolland; William; Lawrence L.; Virginia Alberta; and one other, all born between 1890 and 1914. She died 16 Sept 1960 in Sacramento, CA. Mary Ann’s children are detailed as follows:

Fred J. GENASCI was b. 4 Mar 1868 in Nevada City, CA. His occupation was noted as Merchant at the time of his death on 21 Jul 1906 in Roslyn, WA. Fred was later buried in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Nevada City, CA.

Josephine GENASCI was b. Oct 1869 in Nevada City, CA and married William LAMBARDINE or LAMBERDINE on 24 May 1888 in Nevada City, CA. The couple had at least 4 children including, Pete; Kate; William Jr.; and Annie and were living in Bonanza, ID during the 1900 census and then in Ketchum, ID during the 1920 census.
