"On the seventeenth of October, nineteen twenty-five, at seven thirty in the morning, was born at 10 Rue de l'Alma: Andrée Françoise Célestine Biard, female; daughter of François Ernest Biard, laborer, born in Plélan-le-Petit (Côtes du Nord. Note: this department is nowadays called Côtes d'Armor); and of Célestine Héloïse Jeanne Manivel, housewife, his wife, born in Villesé (Côtes du Nord), on the twenty-second of September, eighteen eighty-seven, residing at the same address. Also on the seventeenth of October, nineteen twenty-five, at four in the afternoon, upon the declaration of the father, who, after the reading was completed, signed with us, Émile Brevet, municipal councilor and civil status officer by delegation of the mayor, in the absence of the deputies.
Marginal notes: In 1934, adopted as a ward of the nation following the judgment of the Civil Court of Rennes dated June nineteenth, nineteen thirty. Married in Rennes on the eighth of December, nineteen forty-four, to David Louis Kass."

S/sgt. David L. Kass, 514 W 110th St., walking down the Rue de Clisson in Rennes, France, with his new bride, Andrée Biard (incorrectly identified by the military archives under the name 'Andree Braid'). Theirs was the first American French marriage in Brittany. September 22th 1944 (church). It is quite unclear whether the wedding ceremony took place at the Basilique Saint-Sauveur, visible in the background, or at the nearby cathedral, as mentioned in the diocesan archives.
