I want to build a place where my son can meet his great-grandparents. My grandmother Marian Joyce (Benning) Kroetch always wanted to meet her great-grandchildren, but she died just a handful of years before my son's birth. So while she didn't have the opportunity to meet him, at least he will be able to know her. For more information about what we're building see About AncientFaces. My father's side is full blood Sicilian and my mother's side is a combination of Welsh, Scottish, German and a few other European cultures. One of my more colorful (ahem black sheep) family members came over on the Mayflower. He was among the first to be hanged in the New World for a criminal offense he made while onboard the ship.

I was 10 when my grandfather was bedridden. It was arranged that I spend one of two weeks with he and my Grandmother. They lived in a lovely older home quite close to town, We had two porches. The morning porch had the sunshine and my grandparents enjoyed their coffee in the morning. I inmagwes tthet were both ther with me, but of course I know realize that could not have been. He was up a very windy staicasein a room that over looked the front lawn. It was summer sio the flowers were ther t the cub and the magnolia tree was in bloom. and a huge tree was near his bedside window. During the day we would have fun counting the change my parents gave me I suppose to use on occasion. I liked to line up how many quater and dimes.etc.He said not go out and buy yourself some junk with some of that money. i thought that was odd. I never had monwey so I rarely would run and spend it.Later I heard at some point that although my grand dad had a good job omn thr rr and became fire chief and treasure in town an d even later a one term mayor, his wif was in charge of the money. It was said she was tight, but EVERYHING was in order in that house!Grandpa was all Irish and Grandma was all German. when we werent counting money, we look at Grandpa's coin collections, and his stamp collections. I loved best his pictoral jokes of I believe was the New Yorker. Wow! They were good! His bedroom had two thin beds pushed together and I slept in between. It was very up in the mountains in Cornwall. But i didnt mind. I always loves summwer because then I could swim in the own luxurt item my family owned...a swimming pool above ground!!Other days I told Grandpa that I wanted to go to th library which was right on our block, maybe 6 homes away toward town. I brought home 6 or 7 l are black and white bilgraphies for children. GrRANDMOTHER THOUGHT i WAS PRETENDING TO BE SMART BY TAKING OUT SO MANY BOOKS, AND SHE WASNT JOKING i WAS PUZZLE4D BY THAT. tHEY WERE VERY EASY AND FAST TO READ.i TOLD gRANDPA i Photo of William Moroney William Moroney
