Louis F Poss with Irene M. Poss (My Mother and Father).
Photo taken in July 1971 on vacation at Clearwater, FL. I was fortunate to be born into a family, a true soul family with a dedicated and religious Father who was a war hero and instrumental in protecting America during WWII, he was stationed n New Guinea, and my Mother who chose the most difficult career that a woman can have, as a Professional Homemaker. She was part Accountant, Tutor, Chef, Baker, Child Psychologists, Maid, Nurse and knew what to do when my Father, who eventually became one of the founding members of the mid-west Chicago Division of IBM, as Secretary Treasurer.

My Father Louis F. Poss served in WWII and is a war hero. He was stationed in the South Pacific at New Guinea. Before President FDR declared war on Japan and our country entered WWII, my father had been working for a little known company, eventually called IBM. His experience was instrumental during WW II as a Communication Analyst and he was also assigned as a chaperone to several Hollywood movie actors such as Lou Ayres, etc. that arrived in New Guinea. When the war ended, Louis (Lou) Poss met Irene Petrokus at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, IL. and eventually married. They had four children, Robert L. Poss, John R. Poss, James J. Poss, and Michael J. Poss. Sadly, my mom died in January 1983 at the age of 65 after battling Lymphoma cancer for over ten years. My father, Louis F. Poss died in 2004 due to complications with a broken hip.

My mother, Irene Mary Petrokus met her future husband, Louis F. Poss, an Army Sargent during WW II at the famous 'World's Wonder Ball Room', The ARAGON in Chicago, Illinois. When I asked her how did she know that Dad was the one she would marry, she recalled smiling, they were walking up one of the grand staircases of the Aragon Ballroom, and were briefly separated due to the crowd. My father grabbed her hand firmly as they continued through the crowd making their way to the dance floor. When my father held her hand, she knew he was the one.

My father grabbed her hand as they continued through the crowd making their way to the dance floor. My Father served in WWII and is a war hero. He was stationed in the South Pacific at New Guinea. Before President FDR declared war on Japan and our country entered WWII, my father had been working for a little known company, eventually called IBM. His experience was instrumental during WW II as a Communication Analyst and he was also assigned as a chaperone to several Hollywood movie actors such as Lou Aires, etc. When the war ended Irene Petrokus eventually married Louis (Lou) Poss and had four children, Robert L. Poss, John R. Poss, James J. Poss, and Michael J. Poss. Sadly, my mom died in January 1983 at the age of 65 after battling Lymphoma cancer for over ten years. She was a professional homemaker, and NOT just a stay at home mom (or a stay at home dad) like many mom and dad's often say nowadays. As a professional homemaker, my mother Irene was an experienced chef, baker, child psychologist, tutor, accountant, and housekeeper. My Dad eventually became one of the founding members of the Chicago Division of IBM (International Business Machines) as the Chief Secretarial Executive. As the ole saying or phrase is often said, "Dad brought home the bacon and my mom knew how to make it last the whole week" for the whole family. She did her own nails, assisted her sisters (my aunts) giving perms and dyeing their hair. My mom, Irene was one of over ten children that her Mother and Father (my grandparents) had raised north of Chicago located in the Logan's Square area. As a child, I remember my brothers and I went to a lot of Polish-Lithuanian weddings and occasional funerals. We had a lot of cousins and had so much fun going to a lot of family picnics in the summer time. I miss my Mother and my Father and most recently, my brother, James (Jim) Poss who died after succumbing to the Covid 19 virus. He never got the covid vaccine, either due too believing insane political conspiracy reasons and/or because he was retired and never went out among the crowd. I miss you so much Mom, Dad, and my brother Jim. ❤️ Especially during the holidays.💔🎄✨️ Photo of Irene Poss Irene Poss
