Mamie George
Mamie George
I've "rescued" an old photograph of Mamie GEORGE which was taken at the J. F. Woodall Studio in Kaw, OK. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900's with Mamie likely in her teens at the time. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Mamie and her family as follows:

Mae “Mary” or “Mamie” Eliza GEORGE was b. 15 Mar 1887 in Kay Co., OK to parents James “Jim” B. GEORGE (b. Nov 1856 in Iowa) and Mary Margaret CARLTON (b. Nov 1866 in Indiana). Mamie was one of 4 children born to this couple including, James Monroe; Sylvester Ernest; Mary “Mamie” E.; and Ruby GEORGE, all born between 1883 and 1889. Mamie married Joseph Napoleon BELLMARD Jr. (b. 21 Aug 1886 in Kaw Indian Reservation – Kaw City, OK to parents Joseph BELLARD and Miss PAPPAN) on 7 Jan 1906 in Kay Co. OK and they had two children including, Clarence Vincent BELLMARD b. 24 Nov 1907 in Osage Co. OK; and Ruby BELLMARD b. 21 Dec 1908 in Kaw City, OK.

Mamie married a 2nd time, to David Elias WESTERLING (b. 24 Feb 1874 in Sweden) sometime prior to 5 Jan 1920 in Cowley Co., KS and together they had two children including, Elizabeth “Bette” Anne WESTERLING b. 8 Jul 1919 in Winfield, KS; and David E. WESTERLING b. 24 Dec 1925 in Los Angeles Co., CA. Mamie died in October 1977 in Glendale, CA.

Census records provide the following details:

1900 census of the Osage Indian Reservation, OK:

James B. GEORGE, age 43, born Nov 1856, married 6 years, born IA, parents born VA/OH, a Farmer
Mary GEORGE, wife, age 33, born Nov 1866, married 6 years, 3 children/2 living, born IN, parents born OH/IN
James Monroe GEORGE, son, age 17, born Mar 1883, born OK, parents born IA/KS, at School
Sylvester E. GEORGE, son, age 15, born Mar 1887, born OK, parents born IA/KS, at School
Mary E. GEORGE, dau, age 13, born Mar 1887, born OK, parents born IA/KS, at School
Ruby GEORGE, dau, age 11, born Feb 1889, born OK, parents born IA/KS, at School
Edith MONGRAIN, step-dau, age 13, born Nov 1886, born OK, parents born KS
Rosa MONGRAIN, step-dau, age 9, born Nov 1891, born OK, parents born KS
Frederick GEORGE, brother, age 58, born Oct 1841, born IN, father born VA

I’m hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photograph of Mamie can be returned to her family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me.

Thanks,
Shelley
