I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as Great Grandma FIELD which was taken at the Hobart Studio in South Rockford, IL in the 1880's or 1890's. Based on census and cemetery information this is believed to be a photograph of Emily TUCKER FIELD. I’ve found the following information about Emily and her family:

I’ve “rescued” two old photographs of Melvin CALENDAR. The first was taken at the Calendar Studio in Lewisburg. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1870’s or 1880’s with Melvin appearing to be about 3 years old at the time it was taken. The second photograph is identified as that of Melvin CALENDAR and Paul DAY and was also taken at the Calendar Studio in Lewisburg, OH in the 1870’s or 1880s’. The two boys are likely about 4-5 years old in this second photograph. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information:

Homer W. CALENDAR was a photographer in Champaign County, OH, both in Lewisburg and in Rush Township until sometime after 1870 when he moved his photography business to Springfield, OH where he practiced for over 30 years.

Melvin E. CALLENDAR was born in North Lewisburg, OH and moved to Yakima, WA in 1889 and then later to Tacoma, WA. Melvin’s father was Elisha CALLENDAR a banker and investment businessman. Melvin moved to Orting, WA in 1895 where he started a Merchandising business. Melvin also organized the Orting State Bank, then moving to Seattle in 1915. Melvin died in Seattle, WA in 1958 at the age of 86. Melvin’s obituary appeared in the Seattle Daily Times on 10 Jun 1958 and listed his surviving family members as his wife Minnie M. CALLENDAR; a daughter Mrs. Edgar SCOFIELD or Tacoma, WA; and three grandchildren.

I’m hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photograph can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me.

Thanks,
Shelley

Stephen and Jane (Wilde) Hawking
Stephen and Jane (Wilde) Hawking
A photo of Stephen Hawking and Jane Wilde on their wedding day, 1965. Stephen was 23, Jane was 21. They met at college - Stephen had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis - ALS - but despite the risks they decided to marry. They were married for 30 years and had 3 children. They divorced in 1995 and Stephen soon remarried and divorced again in 2006.

In the intellectual field, Stephen was a shining star. He was a theoretical physicist, cosmologist, author and Director of Research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology at the University of Cambridge. Widely honored as one of the most brilliant intellects of all time, he wrote the book "A Brief History in Time" - explaining physics concepts in a way that the general public could understand. His explorations into and theories about cosmology were groundbreaking. He also appeared several times on the tv show "The Big Bang Theory"!

Jane remarried in 1997, earned a PhD in medieval Spanish poetry in April 1981, and survived her first husband.

Stephen - according to his family - "died peacefully" at his home in England in the early morning hours of "Pi Day" - March 14, 2018.

Annie Dolva Parsons

I've "rescued" an old photograph of Annie Dolra or Dolva PARSONS which was taken at the Harnish Studio in Albany, OR on 31 Dec 1906. Annie's age is not completely visible on the back of the photograph so all I can see is ? years 4 months and 29 days old, not the actual number of years, but I'm guessing she is about 4-5 years old at the time it was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Annie and her family:

Dolora or Dolva Annie PARSONS was b. abt 1901 of 1902 in Marion, OR to parents Charles C. PARSONS (1870-1955) and Katie L. WALLACE (1879-1909). Annie married twice first to Cassius Everett HEAGY (1891-1945) and then to Clarence B. PHELPS (1895-1966).

I am hoping to locate someone from Annie’s family so that this precious old photograph can be returned to the care of her family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me.

Born in 1809, he was about 51 years of age at the time this photo was taken. While we remember him as having a beard, he only grew the beard shortly before he was elected. On slavery, he said "Whenever I hear anyone arguing over slavery, I feel a strong impulse to see it tried on him personally."

He was born in Sambiase (also known as Lamezia Terme) in the province of Catanzaro in the Calabria region in Italy. He died in World War I about 1915 or 1916. He married Emma Bellincione. They had one son Antonio born Jan 31, 1916

I think this photo is my grandfather's (Santo Vescio) brother who died in World War 1 approx 1916. Can anyone help confirm this information?
