Wife of my great grand Uncle, Hubert Ellen Wells. Winnie Mae was born March 25, 1898 in North Carolina and died February 14, 1984 in Haywood County, North Carolina.

David Thomas Harkins and wife Dovia Stamey Harkins
David Thomas Harkins was born June 17, 1859 in Union County, GA and died Sept. 27, 1933 in Haywood County, North Carolina. Dovia Stamey Harkins was born June 10, 1852 and died July 19, 1919. They were my gg grandparents.

My Dad (James Travis McElrath) is bottom row far right. He would never talk about being in the Aleutian Islands. I have a U.S. Army photo album full of pictures. Most of these I cannot identify. So this is a mystery photo as I cannot identify for sure the rest of the men.

The back of this picture has written "Wilson (Bill) Harkins "Gang on bear hunt 1949. I found this picture in my Mother's things. We are related to Harkins in Western North Carolina. I do not recognize any of these men. Does anyone out there?

The man kneeling in the lower right of the photo is my father James Travis McElrath. He was stationed on Attu in the Aleutian Islands during WWII. He is the only person I know in the picture.
