There is no writing for this picture. I am not even sure what uniform this is! On the back the logo says 'Frank Robbins Photographer Oil City PA. 1878. There are several more pictures in the album not shown and several more tin types. The names in the album are SHORT, COOPER, PARRISH, MADDEU, SHAFFER, SMITH, LEGGER, WAGNER, MARTIN, MOTT, BOUDRI, TOMBLUSON, WOOLF, WALSH, PRICE, SKELLY

2020 marks 20 years since the inception of AncientFaces. We are the same team who began this community so long ago. Over the years it feels, at least to us, that our family has expanded to include so many. Thank you!

Dollie Short wrote above this picture, (Wilfred Schaffer, Elsie's great uncles)

This young man has a look of success! On the back the logo says (From R.W. McFate's Photograph Rooms, L.Whittling, Photographer Cochranton, PA)Can you find a Elsie Schaffer in your family tree?
Andrew Short @ Coopers Picnic
Andrew Short @ Coopers Picnic
The Album has about 35 photos and a dozen tin types. I can't connect this Andrew Short to mine! Andrew Short at Coopers picnic in Sugartown PA.

Ms. Johnsons mother bought this album not knowing any of the people in the album. Her two daughters played with it make believing they were people in their family!
Annie Short
Annie Short
This is my favorite out of the entire Short Album! A very pretty young lady. She seems to be full of spunk with the light in her eyes!

On the back of this photo is the photogaphers logo 'M. Harris 97 Lorain Street, West Side, near market, Cleveland O.' I am guessing that this photo was taken in the mid 1850's, but her dress seems more modern. The front page where Mrs Andrew Short wrote said 1878. Maybe that would be more the time period! What do you think!
3 Tintypes
3 Tintypes
These are 3 tin types that appear to have been taken at the same time! I have enhanced them for better viewing

The little girl has Fany Woolf written by Dollie Short next to it The older girl Mrs. Andrew Short wrote Warty above it and the young man is Michal. Are the Woolf's? Are they Short's? Also on the same page next to an empty holding slot Dollie wrote Dollie Etta Mary Jimme and Joe They are Short's or are they?
Mystery man
Mystery man
There is no writing on the page with this photo. Is he a Short?

On the back of this picture is 'Frank Robbins, Centre & Sycamore Sta., Oil City, PA. and the date is on this one '1878' That is when the picture album was put together according to the inscriptionby Mrs. Andrew Short
Mrs.Joe Short (Dollie)
Mrs.Joe Short (Dollie)
Dollie herself wrote & wife Dollie between her and Joe Short's photos

Dollie seems to be a little darker complection than Joe's. Dollie gives me the impression of maybe being Catholic with the scarf on her head and the cross around her neck! Is it possible she is of Italian or southern German decent?
Joe Short
Joe Short
Mrs Andrew Short wrote Joe Short to the left of this picture. The picture next to Joe's is his wife Dollie, but in Dollie's handwriting '&wife Dollie'

So now we have Andrew Short and his wife'???' uncle Joe, brother to Andrew. Joe, possiblyAndrew's son andjoe's wife Dollie! Does it fit in your tree anywhere?
Grana Short
Grana Short
Peter Short (Grana) Luxenburg (Allsa Lor aiu)

This photo is very interesting to me. He definately had an European aire to his apperance and the writing Mrs. Andrew Short did was more discritive than any other in the album. Also Dollie wrote Allso Lor aiu Germany next to the photo. Mrs Andy Short wrote between Peter's and the empty space and wife (Lirth)Padw Padw Germany!! Do you have any German Short's in your tree?

Uninscribed picture in the Andrew Short album. Looks like the Short women in our family!

Could this be your Greatgrandmother? On the backof the Photo the Photographer has is busness logo' O'Connor #3 Military Road Limerick' no state or city printed.

Uncle Joe Short
Uncle Joe Short
Mrs Short wrote above this picture Joe Short (uncle)

This photo had been glued to someones wall at one time. The wall paper is still on the back! An ugly light blue with little green flowers! There were two of these with wall paper on the back both the same paper! They seem to be a little older than the rest of the photos, but it may be that stuck on the wall they have just faded! This is uncle Joe Short and the next one will be Joe Short and his wife Dollie. Do you have Joe Short's in your tree with Andrew and Joe as brothers and the next generation another Joe?
Murphy
Murphy
Mrs Short wrote below picture Murphy. Dollie Short wrote above it Grandmother Murphy( Parrish Cater)

Do you have a Murphy branch in your SHORT family Tree?
On the back of the photo is printed 'MARTIN'S Photograph Gallery, Weeks Block, Jamestown, N.Y.' I would guess by the other photos in the album and the dress it would date about 1860's
Price & Short
Price & Short
Mrs Short wrote Price (Dave) and Mary Short. This is a tin type! I have enhancesed it for better viewing.

This is the only picture I have been able to verify with the files of the LDS library! David Price married Mary Short in Cinncinati OH in 1868. Unfortunately I can find no parents listed for this couple! Can you find a link with Peter Short or Andrew?
Short Album #5
Short Album #5
No inscription on this photo! On the back is says Martin's Photograph Gallery Jamestown N.Y.

Seem to have my SHORT hairline! Do you know him?
Murry Cooper
Murry Cooper
Dollie Short wrote Murry (Loot Leggers Grandfather a Cooper)

This young man seems to be a fairly well to do gentelman. With the Shrinner tie pin and the vest and watch chain he looks fairly proper! I can't imagine a Short looking that way !!! At the bottom of the photo is the Photogaphers name Moon and it's at South Oil City & Titusville, PA
3girls

In the Short Album Mrs. Andrew Short wrote Me & Warty & aunt Dollie

This tin type is the only one marked Me; refering to Mrs. Andrew Short We saw the picture of Warty in the previous picture and we can presume Aunt Dollie would be the older lady so we presume Mrs. Andrew Short is sitting on the bottom with the hat on her lap. I am sorry for the condition of the tin type, but it is in the roughest condition in the album! Does she look like someone in your family?

No inscription, but on back photogapher printsed J.W. SIRES, Photographer, South Oil City, PA

No identification from Mrs. Short on this one. Does anyone know where South Oil City , PA is?
