About Donovan

Donovan was a kind, not so quiet, dreamer, business concept guy, but his true purpose for life was music. He could bend a note on a harmonica like any of the greats, Phil Wiggins, John Mayall, John Popper, it did not matter, he was a natural. Funny he was somewhat tone deaf but could hear it in his head.
I met him back in the early 80's sometime and we hit it off immediately. We would just hang out, self administer scotch intravenously, play music and talk. I remember he at one time had aspirations to be President of the US and actually had some good ideas.
He and his wife had a house in downtown San Jose off of Market St. and a second home in Clear Lake.
An artist at heart, he is truly missed.

Donovan and I were camping in the east foothills of San Jose one summer evening, intoxicated just this side of comatose, and decided to put the tent up. After the not so small feat was accomplished, I turn around to see Donovan on his back, and ask if he is going to sleep outside, which was a yes.
That early morning around 1 AM I hear this commotion and a startled Donovan swearing at multiple somethings. It turns out a family of wild pigs walked right over him. I did not see them, but did hear their grunting's in the distance.
One of those stories I haven't told but holds fond memories.
That’s so funny! I can just see and hear you two, from your story 🤣

And I never would have thought, from your story, that he had passed in a car accident.
Yes we had some good times.
His Porsche was a convertible and he had two other people with him. What was amazing was when his car rolled he broke his neck, and the other two were barely scratched.
