My Grandmother Saima or as I referred to her to others as Grandma Hanson but I just called her Grandma. She was the Mother of my Mother and I loved that woman above all, as I did my Mother Donna, who just passed, and Do my Sister Sarah and did my Fathers Late Mother, Grandma Anne. When I say "did" it's only to state that they passed away not that I still don't love them with all my soul and heart because they were the absolute best ladies anyone could have. I am so blessed to have known all of them and what I would give to have one more day in their presence because they are the best of the best and I cherish and are so thankful for every second I had with each of those absolute amazing ladies of my life and what an honor it was. I love you all so Grandma Hanson, Grandma Anne, and now my late Mommy Donna Jean Hanson Drlaca. Who i will so miss everyday and never stop yearning for and mourning over till I meet them all again in heaven soon enough.

Matthew Stanley Tanko was born on May 7th, 1941 in Chisholm, Minnesota to John Tanko (1902 - 1970) and Ann Briski (1907 - 1974). He had a sister and a brother.
Matthew S Tanko married Margaret Elizabeth LaValle (1942 - 2008) and they had three sons, Matthew J Tanko, who died in 1985, Joseph and John; and one daughter, Sherral.
Joseph Balachowski:
Trying to solve a mystery. - Karol Bienko and my father, Joseph Balachowski were fellow partisans in the Polish Home Army during WWII, in the eastern part of Poland that now belongs to Ukraine.
During the war they operated out of a farm where my father met my future mother. At the end of WWII my parents ended up in a displaced persons camp in Salzburg, Austria. According to them, Karol disappeared.
In 1948 my parents emigrated to the United States. After my father retired from teaching at a California college, my parents retired to Hemet, CA. This is less than 100 miles from Desert Hot Springs, CA, where Karol Bienko spent his last days. My father passed away in 1989.
I am not sure this was a coincidence. It's possible Mr. Bienko somehow found my father. But did they ever communicate?
Does anyone out there know this story? I would love to hear from you.

21 July 2025 - I found out through a DNA match that I am Dell's daughter. I know very little about him. He died when I was a senior in high school. I was adopted at 7 days and did not meet my biological mother until I was 24 years old. She only knew Dell's name. They met as neighbors in Merced, CA.
My half sister shared that there were 6 children. I was the second oldest and she is third. The youngest girl passed away. I believe both, she and my father, died of heart attacks. He was an accountant and musician. The musical talent seems to be shared by all the siblings.
Any information would be welcome.

Elsie was my Paternal Grandmother - Elsie was my sounding board anytime I was trying to deal with a personal problem. When I was little, she loved brushing my long, curly hair. She would always say it was just like hers, growing in all directions.
One of my favorite funny things I remember about her was that she was a great cook and created these huge delicious meals for holidays, but was notorious for also creating a giant mess in the kitchen. She didn't clean anything as she cooked, it was all left for us to clean up after the meal was over!

I had extremely painful earaches and was home in bed, suffering for about two weeks. Looking out my second-floor bedroom window, I saw a classmate and told her that I had been suffering and alone every day. The next day, someone gave my mother a box very early in the morning. My mother gave me the box and left for work. In it were thirty letters from my classmates. They filled me with emotion, and I was so grateful and quickly got better. My love for that teacher, Agnes Ford, never wavered, for over fifty years I wanted to repay her. After a lot of research, I gave her this tribute on ancientfaces.
