William Garrison Leake 1804 - 1868

William Garrison Leake was born on March 17, 1804 in Deerfield, Cumberland County, New Jersey United States to Nathan Leake Jr. and Ruth Garrison, and had siblings Emma Leake, Nathan Leake, Samuel Fithian Leake, Ruth Leake, James Madison Leake, Eliza Stretch Leake, Charles Garrison Leake, and Ephraim Fithian Leake. William Leake died at age 64 years old on November 2, 1868 in Millville, and was buried in November 1868 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Millville.

Alexander Hamilton was shot and died the next day. Burr was indicted for murder and was acquitted but his political career was ruined.

In 1829, by the time he was 25 years old, on July 23rd, in the United States, William Burt obtained the first patent for a kind of typewriter - an earlier one had been made in Italy in 1808. The typographer, as it was called, was a rectangular wooden box 12 inches wide, 12 inches high, and 18 inches long. It worked by depressing a rotating lever so that an inked letter made contact with the paper.
