A photo of Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini riding in a car (probably a military parade) in Germany circa June 1940. Hitler and Mussolini were allies in World War Two.
How could people who were in charge of such atrocities look so happy and content?
On this day in 1945, Adolf Hitler committed suicide. Some still dispute this fact but to us, suicide seemed to fit with his personality. He's shown here with Benito Mussolini, his ally and leader of Italy in WW2, who was executed 2 days earlier.
I would venture a severe Russian winter, over-extended supply lines, the dodge 21/2 ton truck, the drop tanks on a P-51, a gigantic ruskie army spearheaded by T-34s, and Omar Bradley contributed more to the German defeat, but that’s my opinion. I would say Stalingrad is a perfect example of his stupidity.
I often wonder if ‘ coward’ is the correct term. If one ‘ cowers’, one doesn’t do anything. If one commits suicide, the very act negates ‘cowering’: it just doesn’t seem applicable to me. I would venture he was the worst stain in recorded history.
There are charred remains of him in russia they dna tested it about 2 decades ago to proof its him some other remains they buried because they turned out to not be from top circle but found close to the bunker in 1945 stalin had wanted remains to show of but they where so poor condition they stuck them in a dark corner till the 90 they where found and tested to be stuck in there corner till there going to be giving to a anonymous cemetery for final disposing no info on grave fire or chemical distruction
He fled to Argentina. There is plenty of proof that high ranking people fled there. Hitler was too much of a coward to have killed himself and his lover
I read a piece about in a dutch history magazine one of there specials about ww 2 and as for the reading marks good luck getting my brain to except it im reading mark blind
Suzanne Berglund-Edwards If people stopped investing in Wall Street all their power would collapse. Unfortunately, the greed of the many seems to be more important than human life itself. Have a blessed day Suzanne.
None of you commenting obviously don’t know the remains were tested and were female??? There is so much more evidence he made it to South America than he killed himself. SMDH
Mussolini should have taken a page from General Francisco Franco's book (dictator of Spain) and stayed out of the war and kept Hitler at arm's length! He would have died in his bed!
He never killed himself, it's 100% positive he ended up in Argentina. His goal was to start the 4th Reich and take over the US. Thank God it never happened.
Hitler killed himself after millions of people around the world--soldiers & civillians died resisting his campaign to control the world. Sort of like Trump wants to control America.

Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini, known as "Il Duce", or 'The Leader', was an Italian politician and journalist who was the leader of the National Fascist Party. He ruled Italy as the prime minister from 1922 - 1925 democratically and until 1943 as a dictator. He is credited as inspiring several totalitarian rules including Adolf Hitler.
As a dictator, he reduced unemployment and improved the railroad services, making the trains run on time. In the late 1930s, he teamed with Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan to form the Axis powers.

Photos of the 1900's which brought us from the industrial age to the technological age.
From 1900 through 1999 we witnessed the beginning of flight to a man on the moon and a Mars Rover. We went from using phones tethered by cords and computers that filled rooms, to carrying the equivale...

I am researching Tasker, Jones, Bowen, Rees of Wales; Kroetch, Chartrand of Canada; and Boggs, Ferguson, Smith, of West Virginia and Eastern Kentucky. Also Steeples of Kansas. And on my mother's New England roots - well, too numerous to name since she descends from Mayflower passengers as well as Dutch East India captains who arrived with their families before the Mayflower landed further north than was planned. :) I'm a Founder of AncientFaces and support the community answering questions & helping members make connections to the past (thus my official title of Founder & Content and Community Director). For me, it's been a labor of love for over 20 years. I truly believe with all of my heart that everyone should be remembered for generations to come.
I am 2nd generation San Jose and have seen a lot of changes in the area while growing up. We used to be known as the "Valley of Heart's Delight" (because the Valley was covered with orchards and there were many canneries to process the food grown here, which shipped all over the US) - now we have adopted the nickname "Capital of Silicon Valley" and Apple, Ebay, Adobe, Netflix, Facebook, and many more tech companies are within a few miles of my current home in Campbell (including AncientFaces). From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our current Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US. I am so very proud of my hometown. For more information see Kathy - Founder & Content and Community Director
I want to build a place where my son can meet his great-grandparents. My grandmother Marian Joyce (Benning) Kroetch always wanted to meet her great-grandchildren, but she died just a handful of years before my son's birth.
So while she didn't have the opportunity to meet him, at least he will be able to know her.

My father's side is full blood Sicilian and my mother's side is a combination of Welsh, Scottish, German and a few other European cultures. One of my more colorful (ahem black sheep) family members came over on the Mayflower. He was among the first to be hanged in the New World for a criminal offense he made while onboard the ship.
