SO happy we can just go to the store for Thanksgiving! Circa 100 years ago in Missouri, it was a gun, an ammunition belt, and wild turkeys.
Yes we would starve, pretty scrawny lookin birds there...but it was what you had to do...🦃
my hubby turkey hunts and so does his dad.. nothing better than a fresh shot turkey!!

It was my job to pullout all the missed pin feathers on the Turkey Mother bought at the store in the 50s.
I cleaned a turkey, tore feathers off, scoured in the kitchen, marinated for 24 hours, stuffed with long grain rice with veggies. Best turkey I had, never again and it was only 11 pounds
Go BEFORE Thanksgiving, not ON Thanksgiving! Maybe the stores will start closing on that day so their employees can have it all day with their family & friends.
