Clown costume circa 1910
Girl dressed in a clown costume circa 1910. These were called "pierrot costumes" at the time. Pierrot was a character created by Italian troupes of players performing in Paris and known as the Comédie-Italienne. A sad clown and buffoon, the Pierrot has endured until modern times.
