Rosemary Isabel Waters. Born in Bandon on 20 Sept 1933, second daughter of Henry Warren-Perry of Kinsale, and of his wife Isabella (nee Lucas): granddaughter of Capt. Adam Warren-Perry, of Kinsale, and of Lt.Col. George Lucas of Ballinadee. Educated at the French School, Bray, where she was Senior Prefect. Taught at Glengara Park School, Junior Dept. 1951-1955. Married on 6 March 1956 to Adrian E.O.Waters, they farmed at Knockroe, Kilmacsimon, Bandon, 1956-1964. They had four children: The family emigrated to New Zealand in Dec1964, and settled in 1966 at Kokopu, Whangarei, where they pursued their farming careers until 1989when the farm was sold. Rosemary developed a natural ability with animals and poultry, being a keen outdoor worker. She enjoyed making butter, milking the 256 cows, and rearing up to 300 calves a year. She is an enthusiastic organist, particularly at Ruatangata Church; and was President there of the Women’s Fellowship for many years. She played the piano or organ in several Churches for Services, Weddings & Funerals and played in Retirement Homes regularly. She travelled extensively with Adrian on many occasions, and with him she climbed up into the Great Pyramid (Cheops), bathed in the Dead Sea, visited Jerusalem and Galilee, walked on the Great Wall of China, and toured many other places in Asia and Europe. She took a keen interest in the Antiques and Artifacts Adrian had accumulated and inherited, which he had shipped from Ireland to New Zealand. Rosemary was confirmed on 22 Mar 1950 in Bray, Wicklow, Ireland, became a NZ citizen on 10 May 1976 in the Whangarei Town Hall along with Adrian and her 3 remaining children. On 08 Apr 2001 in the Whangarei Central Baptist Church she was water baptised by full emersion. Rosemary died at home from complications from bladder cancer on 5 Jul 2020 and had a memorial Service the following day in the Chapel next to the Mangere Falls on the farm which she assisted in building with locals and the farm owner Bruce Savill. She has a memorial stone there in her honour. Her ashes were buried in her husband’s grave Maunu Park Block Thirty Two Plot 4710, Maunu Cemetery, Maunu, Whangarei, Northland, New Zealand on 27 Nov 2020.
