Debbie Parrott
About me:
Amateur genealogist - been working on my family, my late husband's family, and my partner's family. I'm trying to write up short biographies of each 2x great-grandparent; their children, including the great-grandparents; their children, including the grandparents; and their children, including the parent. It's been quite the project for each family.
About my family:
My Mom's paternal grandparents emigrated from England to Canada in the late 1800's, pioneering in north-central Manitoba. Her maternal grandparents emigrated from northern Sweden to the same area.
My Dad's paternal grandparents were born in Ontario, his line being Loyalist out of New York state. His maternal grandparents came from Illinois/Indiana, emigrating to southern Saskatchewan.
There are a few family names on which I am stuck. One is my 2x great-grandfather on my Dad's maternal side. No trace of him can be found prior to him signing up, in Indianapolis, during the civil war, at age 21 in 1863. He claimed to have been born "at sea", in "Scioto Ohio", "Ocean Pacific", yes in that order. His wife's side can be traced back to the Virginia settlers.
