Lady Diana Manners
Lady Diana Manners
Lady Diana Manners, born Lady Diana Olivia Winifred Maud Manners, the original "Diana" She was officially born to the union of the 8th Duke of Rutland and his wife, the former Violet Lindsay but her biological father was thought to be writer Henry Cust.

Considered the most beautiful young woman in England, she starred on the British stage as well as some early silent films. She used the name the Lady Diana Manners from 1892 -1919 and went by several other names throughout her life. This photo, therefore may have been taken during her stage career about 1918.

I've "rescued" an old photograph of F. C. RATH in front of his grocery store. The photograph was likely taken in the early 1900's. He is pictured along with two of his employees. I believe that this is Gottfried “Fred” C. RATH. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Fred and his family:

Gottfried “Fred” Christian RATH was b. 18 Jan 1871 in Dubuque, IA to Godfrey or Gottfried “Fred” RATH (1846-1888) and Johanna LAPE or LOEB (1850-1920). He was one of 8 children born to this couple including, Ann F. RATH WEICHOLD (1869-1952); Fred Christian; Frederick; Franklin “Frank” RATH (1873-1945); George RATH (1875-1950); Thomas; Envina; and Emma Elizabeth RATH (1879 or 1881-1923). Fred married Margaret or Margarette Ellen KEIDERLING (b. 1877 in Sommerville, NJ-1938) and together they had 3 children including, Harold Gottfried RATH (1895-1896); Gordon Brandon RATH (1897-1983) and Andrew Plattner RATH (1900-1991) all born in Iowa City, IA or Waterloo, IA.

Fred died in June 1948 and is buried in the Fairview Cemetery in Waterloo, IA.

Maude Mae DeWitt
Maude Mae DeWitt
A photo of Maude Mae DeWitt. Maudie was the daughter of Joseph W. DeWitt. She was born December 22, 1888 in Christian Co, Missouri and died January 3, 1979 in Denver, Colorado. Maudie is wearing a pendant with a photo of Paris "Toad" Hargis, in it. At the time of this photo she had just become, Mrs. Paris Hargis. They married August 14th, 1905 at - Ozark, Christian County, Missouri. As far as I am aware, they only had one child, Joseph "Joe" DeWitt Hargis (1907 - 1939). Isn't she a pretty one?

If anyone is aware of other children in this family, or if Joe possible fathered a child, I would be grateful for information or how to contact them, thank you.
