UN-known CW Soldier ~ Does He Look Like Your Ancestor?
I saw this photo posted on the Gettysburg Museum of History's facebook wall. I assume they have no name for this young soldier. But somewhere there may be someone who recognizes him from other old photos. I wonder if Face Recognition software could be used to match up nameless old photos with relatives/descendants old photos. Hopefully.
So I am posting it here, because you just never know.

This is a photo from the 1920's-1930's (?) of Tod and Francis, two young people who may have eloped. Maybe. Anyway on the back is written, " Dad & Alta, Here is the wife and I. You shall be ____ to like us both when we come to see you. Tod
On the back, its apparent that this pic was at one time glued to an album and when removed, part of the black paper remains over top of some words.
A tiny little snapshot about 2" inches X 3 "inches.

I want to build a place where my son can meet his great-grandparents. My grandmother Marian Joyce (Benning) Kroetch always wanted to meet her great-grandchildren, but she died just a handful of years before my son's birth.
So while she didn't have the opportunity to meet him, at least he will be able to know her.

My father's side is full blood Sicilian and my mother's side is a combination of Welsh, Scottish, German and a few other European cultures. One of my more colorful (ahem black sheep) family members came over on the Mayflower. He was among the first to be hanged in the New World for a criminal offense he made while onboard the ship.

My mom's side of the family is Swedish (and still lives in Sweden) and she instilled in me lots of Swedish heritage and traditions which has made me who I am today. My dad's side of the family is German and Irish and the most likely the side of the family I get all my freckles from. Family is so important, and welcome everyone to discover more about them, their history, and share about their loved ones who make up the history of who we are!

Hiawatha NY August 20, 1939 Man and Woman hugging in their swim suits
Like the title says, a young man and woman are hugging, wearing their swimming suits. The back only says "Hiawatha NY August 20, 1939"
A very American image!

Vaughn Gleason, Two Children ~ Cabinet Photo 1900 1910 1915 1920
That is all it says on the back, written in pencil. Vaughn Gleason and clearly was written by a young person. Its in cursive. Somebody knows who this is. I hope family can be found. I always want to return old photos that I acquire. When was is taken? Well I took a pic of it and used Lens to find similar items. I did see a 1880's just like this one, the card I mean. These cabinet cards could have been used for decades, so very hard to pin point. My guess by the clothing the older child is wearing, the boy, is within 1900-1920. But I do not actually know.

"Bobby" Age 6 months March 1951
So Bobby , you were born in November 1950, right? I hope that someone recognizes Bobby aka Robert. No last name available. Is this your Dad or Grand-Dad?? I got this snap shot in a box of random photos that I bought online few years ago. Seems like most photos are from the Northern and Mid western states.

Irving & Miriam Baron August 29, 1958 Possibly New York, Brooklyn,
The back of this photo is what the title says. So I did some research on familysearch.org. I found two possible Miriams'. One was born Aug. 24, 1924, changed her name to Mimi, Applied for social security at least 3 times? Died in Florida in July 1988. Does not mention Irving. Another Miriam uses the name of Marilyn, born 1929, Brooklyn, NY, married April 10, 1950 in Brooklyn to Irving Baron. Irving was born 1919, in NY. This information gathered from the Familysearch.org web site. That is all I can find out. I hope that their families see these photos and lays claim to thrm.

1911 Bernice's Grandmother Mother's Mother Lana Bylokremitskaya
The back of this old postcard style photo is far more interesting. I used google lens to translate. These were the results. "Lana Bylokremitskaya, This photo is given by mail, expensive daughter, S. Martynovit, 1911 Coal 20. "
Norwegian?? I do not know.

1941 Plymouth House Family Members Waving Mink Fur Coat Minneapolis MN
This is what is stamped on the back of this photo: "Arrow photo service box 184, Minneapolis, MN." 1941 Plymouth House Family Members Waving Mink Fur Coat Minneapolis MN. Hopefully someone in Minnesota will recognize these folks or at least the house.

Groom & Bridesmaids August 1968 Snap Shot
No location. Within the USA. A young groom and two bridesmaids, I think, posing for wedding photos. He has something hidden in his hands. No weeding band,,,yet. He does have a dark tan. Did he go to Vietnam already? Very possible. The older cars are fun to look at.

Two Women On Ladders Painting A Barn ~ Springdale
Well that's what is looks like to me. No indication as to where this is located at all. Other than I am certain this was taken within the USA.
Two gals on ladders, wearing "dungarees". Or work pants. These two gals were captured painting or white washing this shed or barn for a reason. The back of the photo does have a hand written note. This is what it seems to read: " Springdale, finishing up the dining pavilion" ,

Appalachian Babies with a 1890's Crazy Quilt, Mountain Background
Here is what I see. Two little babies that have on clean clothes and shoes. The rocker is wide, maybe home made, and on the back is a crazy quilt, which was very popular in the 1890s. But I do not think this is the 1890s. There is the porch of a cabin to their left. A mountain in the background. When do you think this was taken? I myself think about 1910. That quilt could have been the mama's wedding gift quilt. A very popular thing for mamas to make for their daughter or daughter in laws on wedding days. I think the bigger baby is the girl, and the smaller on is her little brother. A guess. They seem to be wearing christening gowns? Its a great photo no matter what!

Caterpillar Tractor Hyster c1940's-1950's Man on a Caterpillar Bulldozer
Again I do not know who this is, or where this was shot. A Caterpillar Hyster Bull Dozer dealership. The man is probably a WW2 veteran who learned how to operate heavy machinery in the military. That is just a guess. From what I have read, this bulldozer came out in 1945. This is somebody's daddy, or grandpa! or great grandpa! I wished I knew.

Unknown "Sand Lot" Kids c1950's (?)
From a box of random old photos that I bought from a girl online, years ago. I do not know anyone in this photo, or any of the photos in that box. But they are somebody's relative. I am going to post each one as I scan them. I hope to at least connect with the families. But even if I don't, these are still good photos to enjoy! -Peggy
