He married Catherine Adelaide Burnett, and had children William John Ebbels, Edward Thomas Ebbels, Henry Alfred Ebbels, Albert Ernest Ebbels, Julia Ann Spring Ebbels, John Edward Ebbels, Frederick Ebbels, Benjamin Ebbels, and Edward Theodore Ebbels. Edward Ebbels died at age 48 years old on January 9, 1905 in Pitfield, Golden Plains Shire County.
