Nationality & Ethnicity

The nationality of Fisher can be difficult to determine in cases which countries change over time, making the original nationality a mystery. The original ethnicity of Fisher may be in dispute as result of whether the family name came about organically and independently in different locales; e.g. in the case of last names that come from professions, which can appear in multiple places independently (such as the last name "Brewster" which refers to a female brewer). The Fishers came over to the USA  in 1854 with other companions such as the Welders, Carrisers, Clerts, Orberson and the Selmions.

I'm having trouble finding info on my g-g-grandfather, Lewis Benjamin Fisher. He was born in Gaston County, NC in the 1880's and died in 1952. He married Sarah Lenara Starnes and they had 10 children. I need to know his parents names and his family tree. The story goes that one of our ancestors shot a deer in the Kaisers forest in Germany to feed his family. He had to leave Germany or be imprisoned or killed for the offense. That's how we got here, but I don't know when that was. Can anyone help me?
