Portrait of a young man; a Ross family ancestor.

This young man is an unidentified ancestor. Does his photo appear in your family album of ROSS, QUISENBERRY, ROSENCRANS or ROMAINE family members? During the late 1800's and early 1900s, our family lived in Kansas and Missouri-with Ross-specific ancestral ties to New York and Kentucky.

Do you recognize young Lizzie from your family albums? This photo was a treasured keepsake of my great-grandmother Louisa Ann PALMER VALLIS, born 1858 in Swanbourne England. We believe that this photo is from Vallis kin. Our known VALLIS line begins with the 1827 marriage of Samuel VALLIS and Sarah TAYLOR at St. George in the Borough. Then, they lived in Poplar-Millwall England. Louisa married their youngest son, John born 1849. His siblings included Abraham, George, Ellen, Clara and Mary Jane. Other ancestral surnames include:
TAYLOR, HEDGES, PICKERING and CUTLER.

Photo of a young English woman with locket necklace. Photo taken approx. 1850 at the Photographic Studio of W. Bartier, then located at 134 East India Road, Poplar East.

One of our mystery family members. Do you know this woman? Does an existing photography business own legacy business documents of W. Bartier? This is a treasured family photo kept by my great-grandmother, Louisa Ann PALMER VALLIS born 1858 in Swanbourne England. Louisa immigrated to the US in 1883 after the death of her younger brother Charles Richard PALMER. Louisa met & married John Vallis in Lincoln, Nebraska. John Vallis, born 1849 in Poplar Millwall England immigrated to the US in 1872. John's siblings (who remained in England) included Abraham, George, Ellen, Clara and Mary Jane. Census data shows George's family (wife Eliza & children)continued to live in Poplar at 7 Alpha Road. Mary Jane married Alfred SCRIVEN. Louisa's relations, including HEDGES, CUTlER and PICKERING,were from Buckinghamshire, including the areas of Swanbourne, Wing, Stewkley and Leighton Buzzard.
