John Wesley Earp was a son of Allen and Mary Ann "Polly" Stogsdill Earp. He was born in Lincoln County, Tennessee on February 14, 1828. He died in 1921 in Washita County, Oklahoma. He is buried near Foss or Canute, Washita County, Oklahoma.
