Harry H. Woodring Family 1937 - Christmas
Harry H. Woodring Family 1937 - Christmas
Secretary of War Harry H. Woodring and his wife with their children Cooper Coolidge, Marcus, and Melissa. The children are opening presents on Christmas Eve, 1937.

Is it me, or does the oldest boy have more interesting presents than his sister? He has a whole train set with buildings - she has a . . . book??

White Christmas - Rosemary Clooney, Danny Kaye, Bing Crosby
White Christmas - Rosemary Clooney, Danny Kaye, Bing Crosby
Rosemary Clooney starred alongside Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye and Vera-Ellen in White Christmas in 1954. It was the first film to be shot in Paramount's VistaVision process with color by Technicolor. The film boasted more than 15 songs.

Lucky for Danny Kaye, Donald O'Connor became sick and was unable to shoot the film after Fred Astaire declined the project.

Even though Vera-Ellen's character Ellen played the younger sister to Betty (Rosie Clooney), Rosemary Clooney was 7 years younger.

The film took in $12 million dollars in 1954. Tickets were approximately 25¢ for children under 12 and 50¢ for over 12 & adults.

Children of Frederick Muehlhause
A photo of the four oldest children of Frederick Muehlhause. Found in a Texas antique store. Handwritten on the back is "Fred Mühlhause, Belton, Texas". I estimated the date of photo from the apparent ages of the kids. This was probably taken in Belton where the family lived.

Santa Claus Label, 1868
A label featuring Santa Claus for Sugar Plums by the U.S. Confection Company, New York, in 1868.

The label was entered into the Clerk's Office in the district of Southern New York. It's an interesting use of Santa for advertising in the mid 1800's. The image is familiar but has changed somewhat since then!
