Louise Ballweg Block
I've "rescued" an old photograph of Louise BALLWEG BLOCK which was taken sometime in the 1880's. The photograph was taken at the Arcade Gallery Studio in Peoria, IL with Louise appearing to be in her early teens at the time. In addition to her name someone has written "Aunt Lou" and "Nana's Sister" and "born about 1873" on the back of the photograph. Based on limited research I was able to find the following information:
Louisa BALLWEG was b. 18 Nov 1868 in Minnesota to parents Charles BALLWEG (1843-1919) and Minnie MASTENBROOK (1844-1910). Louisa was one of 6 children born to this couple including, Louisa; Helena Catherine “Minnie”; William Charles; Charles Edward; Frank Joseph; and Clara Agnes BALLWEG, all born between 1868 and 1884. Louisa married Charles W. BLOCK (b. 1870) and she died in Napa, CA on 29 Oct 1947.
I am hoping to be able to return the photograph to her family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley

Clara (Shaw) Whitfield
I've "rescued" three photographs which belong to the SHAW Family of Washington State. The first two are of Clara Helen SHAW WHITFIELD with both taken at the French Studio in Tacoma, WA sometime in the early 1890's with Clara likely about 3 years old at the time. The third photograph is of Clara Helen SHAW, Loren Ransome SHAW, and Henry George SHAW and was taken at the Mitchell Studio in Puyallup, WA. This one was also taken in the 1890's with the three children appearing to be about 2-6 years old at the time. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding this family:
Clara SHAW was b. 1890 and married Mr. WHITFIELD and d. 1971 and is buried in the Wright Crematory and Columbarium in Seattle, WA. Henry G. SHAW was b. 1891 and d. 1915 and is also buried along with his sister in Seattle, WA. Loren Ransome SHAW Jr. was b. 16 Jul 1888 in Washington and married Agnes Mae BODIN on 9 May 1917 in Snohomish Co. WA and he died on 13 Jul 1935 in Seattle, WA and is buried along with his siblings in Seattle, WA. Loren Ransome SHAW Jr. also appears to have been married to Emily B. LANGILL (b. 1895) but the information is confusing since his death notice lists his wife as Agnes but the last census has his wife as Emily B. – are these the same women?
All the children were born to Loren Ransome SHAW II (b. 1862 in Muskegon, MI to parents Loren R. SHAW I and Helen T. SOULE) and Mary Elizabeth “Lizzie” SCLYTHE (b. 1872). Their father Loren Ransome SHAW II had only one full sibling, a sister named Carrie V. SHAW (1862-1926), after his Mother’s death his father remarried and had 3 additional children including, Nellie; Dora Lulu; and Don Jerome SHAW, all born between 1868 and 1886). Wesley & Myrtle Hamilton
A photo of Wesley & Myrtle Hamilton, my great grandparents. I met Myrtle when I was a child, she passed away in the mid-1980s.
Oliver Weston "Wesley" Hamilton -- 1882-1945
Myrtle Ruth Kearns Hamilton -- 1895-1984
My father and brother and nephew all carry the middle name of "Wesley" in honor of this man. Zooming in on Oliver's face, my daddy has his eyes. The couple married in 1910 in South Dakota (pap was a railroad man). They divorced in the 1930s.

Tilly English
I've "rescued" an old photograph of Tilly ENGLISH which was taken at the Sim Mould Studio in Baraboo, WI sometime in the 1890's. Tilly appears to be in her teens or 20's at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Tilly and her family:
Tillie ENGLISH was b. Dec 1877 in Sauk Co. WI to parents William Thomas or Thomas William ENGLISH (1849-1922) and Irene EVANS (1854-1900). Tillie was one of 4 children born to this couple including, Tillie; Harry E.; Izer A.; and Irene V. ENGLISH, all born between 1877 and 1895. Tillie married Ashley Bassett POWELL (1856-1941). Records indicate that the couple had two children including, John W. and Silas D. POWELL born in 1898 and 1904 respectively, however, I don’t believe that Tillie married Ashley until after the 1920 census so I’m guessing that they were children from a previous marriage. Tillie died 16 Nov 1961 in Reedsburg, WI and is buried in the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Baraboo, WI.
Census records provide the following details:
1880 census of Baraboo, WI:
Thomas W. ENGLISH, age 29, a Farmer, born VA, parents born VA
Izro ENGLISH, wife, age 26, Keeping House, born WI, parents born PA
Ellen ENGLISH, dau, age 2, born WI
Henry D. EVANS, father-in-law, age 61, a Farmer, born PA, parents born MA
+ 1 Servant

Irene ENGLISH, wife, age 46, born Jan 1854, married 24 years, 3 children/3 living, born WI, parents born PA
Tillie ENGLISH, dau, age 22, born Dec 1877, born WI
Harry E. ENGLISH, son, age 19, born Oct 1880, born WI

Robertson - Being Pickpocketed
This was in the family photo albums and we are not sure of the identity, but believe it to have been my grandmother's brothers and step brother. The brothers would be James Wesley and Robert Louis Robertson and probably center and right, the stepbrother William Olsan. We are not sure. Probably about 1920.

Maude Mae DeWitt
A photo of Maude Mae DeWitt. Maudie was the daughter of Joseph W. DeWitt. She was born December 22, 1888 in Christian Co, Missouri and died January 3, 1979 in Denver, Colorado. Maudie is wearing a pendant with a photo of Paris "Toad" Hargis, in it. At the time of this photo she had just become, Mrs. Paris Hargis. They married August 14th, 1905 at - Ozark, Christian County, Missouri. As far as I am aware, they only had one child, Joseph "Joe" DeWitt Hargis (1907 - 1939). Isn't she a pretty one?
If anyone is aware of other children in this family, or if Joe possible fathered a child, I would be grateful for information or how to contact them, thank you.
