A picture of Santa Claus making toys in 1907. You can see he hasn't gotten fat yet - and don't you love the toys and dolls that he's making? I bet they're worth money now . . .

President Woodrow Wilson
President Woodrow Wilson
President Woodrow Wilson, seated at desk with his wife, Edith Bolling Galt, standing at his side

The previous October, Wilson had suffered a stroke and many believe that Edith became the de facto President of the United States. For the next 1.5 years of his presidency, he was partially paralyzed and blind and also suffered brain damage.

The French ambassador to the US said that "Wilson was a non-factor in governance. The real power rested with “Mme. President.”

Hand tinted World War I postcard
This is a commercially published, mass produced postcard. The verse at the bottom reads:

Le devoir a son temps, l'amour égalemant:
Acceptez ce bouquet d'un parfait combattant.

(Translation by Google)
Duty has its time, love also:
Accept this bouquet of a perfect fighter.

A soldier evidently bought this as a souvenir and mailed it home. Handwritten on the back: "A good picture of a French soldier as they appear while on furlough."

White Christmas - Rosemary Clooney, Danny Kaye, Bing Crosby
White Christmas - Rosemary Clooney, Danny Kaye, Bing Crosby
Rosemary Clooney starred alongside Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye and Vera-Ellen in White Christmas in 1954. It was the first film to be shot in Paramount's VistaVision process with color by Technicolor. The film boasted more than 15 songs.

Lucky for Danny Kaye, Donald O'Connor became sick and was unable to shoot the film after Fred Astaire declined the project.

Even though Vera-Ellen's character Ellen played the younger sister to Betty (Rosie Clooney), Rosemary Clooney was 7 years younger.

The film took in $12 million dollars in 1954. Tickets were approximately 25¢ for children under 12 and 50¢ for over 12 & adults.

Greenwood (Hardy) Brinkmann
A photo of Greenwood Hardy found in an antique store. Written on the back is "Greenwood Hardy age 5". This is an unusual name for a girl. I may be misreading it, so I uploaded a separate image of the inscription.

Whoever she is, she's adorable. The photo is a refreshing change from the formal poses I usually see from kids in this era.

UPDATE: thanks to the comments, I was able to identify her and added her family information to her biography page.
